In times of increasing environmental awareness and a clear focus on sustainable energy sources, the conversion of heating systems to heat pumps is becoming more and more important. But what about the costs and what subsidies are available to homeowners?
Investment costs for single-family homes at a glance
The investment costs for a heat pump, including installation, vary depending on the complexity and type of pump. On average, they are currently between 12,000 and 35,000 euros for a detached house. At first glance, this may seem higher than the cost of a gas boiler, which only costs around a third of that. However, investing in a heat pump pays off in the long term, and this is where the funding opportunities come into play.
Subsidies under the Building Energy Act
Homeowners who decide to install a heat pump can benefit from subsidies under the new the new building energyenergy law benefit. The funding amounts to at least 30 percent of the investment costs. But that’s not all – there is an additional “speed bonus” of 20 percent if the old heating system is replaced, even if it is still working. People with low incomes can even receive subsidies of up to 70 percent.
Further financing options
In addition to state subsidies, homeowners also have access to other financing options. The German Heat Pump Association offers a “funding calculator” on its website. This tool makes it easy to find out which subsidies are available for an individual heat pump project – whether for new or existing buildings. There are also special promotional loans and the option of claiming the costs against tax.
Long-term savings and environmental awareness
The costs for operating a heat pump are generally lower than for gas heating. This, combined with the increasing likelihood of higher gas prices due to the rise in CO2 prices, makes the heat pump an economical solution in the long term. In addition, heating systems using fossil fuels must be switched off by 2045 at the latest, making the heat pump a future-proof choice.
Investing in the future
Converting to a heat pump may initially appear to involve higher investment costs, but the numerous funding opportunities, long-term savings and positive environmental impact make this investment a smart and sustainable decision. Take advantage of the financial incentives and design your Heating more efficient, environmentally friendly and future-proof. A look at the total service life shows: Heat pumps are not only an ecological, but also an economic investment in the future.
